Porta 2.8 Release Notes
Build: 2.8.0_staging+d5d184f8.01025
Released: October 7th 2026
New features
Section titled “New features”- PN-2523: Added Global Brightness and Global Volume components for Designer templates in Template Builder. They set the brightness or volume (0 to 100%) of every active transport in Designer from a single page, for example, to meet venue restrictions on brightness or volume at certain times of day. The new level is applied immediately, without a fade. Both components default to 100%, and Porta reapplies the stored value every time the page is sent, so only add them to pages that are meant to set the level. The deprecated Feed Output component has been removed.
- PN-1410: When a Timeline Control is added to a Designer template on a channel with more than one active transport, a Choose Transports dialog now lets you pick which transports get control panels, instead of Porta generating a panel for every transport. If the channel reports no active transports, Porta now shows a warning instead of failing.
- PN-2685 & PN-2688: Added database checks for Porta On Prem upgrades. Before the database is updated, Porta confirms the database is reachable, checks free disk space and takes a database backup as a rollback point. Afterwards, it verifies that record counts on key tables have been preserved.
- PN-2624 & PN-2790: Playlist import now preserves the structure of the exported playlist. Imported templates keep their original groups and order in the templates panel, and pages and page groups keep their original order instead of all pages being placed first.
- PN-2681: Resolved an issue where importing a large playlist file could fail.
- PN-2637: Resolved an issue where a Scheduler rule never fired if Play was pressed before the rule’s first time window opened. Pages now play automatically when each rule’s window opens.
- PN-2660: Resolved an issue where a repeating Scheduler rule whose time window crosses midnight (for example, 20:15 to 06:44) saved its stop-repeating date as the end of the window, so the rule could be treated as active outside its scheduled times. The rule form has been redesigned to prevent this: the end date of the Play window is now set automatically, with a +1 day indicator when the window ends the next day, and Stop repeating is the only date in the repeat settings. Opening an affected existing rule pre-fills its Stop repeating date for you to confirm and save.
- PN-2955: The Scheduler now describes non-repeating blackout rules more clearly, without the “Does not repeat” and “starting on” wording. Existing rules keep the old wording until they are edited and saved again.
- PN-2488: Resolved an issue where Controllers in an Unreal Engine Remote Control Preset did not appear in the Unreal Property dropdown or the property toolbar in Template Builder.
Known issues
Section titled “Known issues”- PN-2206: Designer Template Builder requires at least one HTTP-patched field to proceed.
- PN-2668: In a Scheduler set with multiple layers whose time windows open at different times, once one layer has started playing, layers whose windows open later do not start automatically.
