IP-VFC Overview
The IP-VFC is a Video Format Conversion (VFC) card designed to support IP video streams with Disguise Media Servers. It allows users to output high-quality, low-latency video in either SDI or ST 2110 formats, making it suitable for a range of professional broadcast workflows and live production environments.
Network ports and SFPs
Section titled “Network ports and SFPs”Each IP-VFC card features four network ports, which can be configured for either IP video (ST 2110) or SDI video output, depending on the type of Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) modules installed.
The cards currently support the following SFP types:
- Network SFPs enables the output of ST 2110 video over a network.
- SDI SFPs enables the output of SDI video.
Outputting video
Section titled “Outputting video”IP-VFC cards support a fixed range of video formats and frame rates or frequencies, from Full HD at 23.98 fps to 4K DCI at 60 fps. Before using an IP-VFC card, ensure that your required format is supported.
IP-VFC cards can have 4 SFPs installed but can only ever output either ST 2110 network video or SDI video, never both at the same time.

Hardware and software interoperability
Section titled “Hardware and software interoperability”IP-VFC cards are supported on the GX 3, GX 3+ and VX 4+, with specific Designer software versions. For a full list of compatible hardware and software, see the IP-VFC interoperability page.
The IP-VFC card is only officially supported when it is the only type of VFC card installed in a server. Mixing different types of VFC cards in the same system is not supported.
Additionally, the IP-VFC requires a media server with Backplane v2 (BP2). If your server does not have Backplane v2, a paid upgrade is available to make it compatible with the IP-VFC.
