Release notes for r21

Improvements, fixes and known issues in r21.0.4
Fixes
  • DSOF-20543  - NotchHost: Fixed fields in schema having no sequence set to true incorrectly

  • DSOF-20203 -  d3service now ensures rsync is running always once starting
Advisories
  • DSOF-17848 - With "disableDmxPacketSendWait" on, lost sACN node on network still causes the project to slow to a halt.
    • Workaround: Add a static entry into the local systems ARP table.
  1. Open an elevated command prompt.
  2. Find out MAC for IP, could use arp -a to see existing entries in local arp cache.
  3. Run netsh interface ipv4 show interfaces to get a list of interface names.
  4. Add a new entry to the ARP table netsh interface ipv4 add neighbors "<interface name>" <dest ip> <dest mac>
  5. E.g netsh interface ipv4 add neighbors "Wi-Fi" 10.105.1.253 01-02-03-04-05-06
  6. Remove entry like so; netsh interface ipv4 delete neighbours <dest IP>
  7. Important - Remove entries when done or re-image system!!! Otherwise, network issues may occur in the future sending the manually added IP addresses.
    - Affects version: r18.1.7

  • DSOF-17540 - Sequencing changes do not transfer to other machines in session when restoring a snapshot
    • Workaround: Not know
    • Affects version: r18.1.2DSOF-18446 - Very large NotchLC content can cause d3 to lose access to GPU device

  • DSOF-17193 - Multi User Edit in UE requires preferred sync adapter to be set to a network adapter which is available to all machines
    • Workaround: Often the preferred sync adapter is set to the 25Gb network to facilitate faster sync. Unless all machines in the network have a 25Gb adapter, the preferred sync adapter must be set to another network adapter when multi user edit sessions are running in UE. The adapter can be changed back for when running sync tasks.
    • Affects version: r18.0

  • DSOF-17108 - Current NCAM data implementation used can exhibit unreliable packet timing
    • Workaround: Not known
    • Affects version: r18.0

  • DSOF-16935 - d3 cannot set SDI VFCs to Quad 4K 2SI 23.98, 24, 29.97 or 30Hz
    • Workaround: Not known
    • Affects version: r18.0.2

  • DSOF-16425 - Renderstream: When using MultiChannelMapping, only one spatial map w backplate is able to change position/rotation
    • Workaround: Not known
    • Affects version: r18

  • DSOF-15445 - Editor machines with a user account linked to a Microsoft Account can't join d3 sessions due to permissions errors
    • Workaround: Create a second local user account
    • Affects version: r17.4.8

Q-SDI VFC Firmware advisory

This document outlines:

  • Background
  • Impact of issues
  • Affected Hardware
  • How to determine the current firmware version
  • How to update to v1.9.0

Background:

SDI VFCs are unable to achieve a guaranteed genlock to an interlaced genlock signal. There is 50% chance there will be a phase offset of 1 field (180 degrees). This is due to the way in which the sync cards for both AMD and NVidia GPUs detect genlock signals.

Firmware version 1.9.0 adds a button to reverse the field, which enables you to revert to the alternate field if genlock is phase offset. To properly use this feature, you will need to have the relevant equipment to be able to measure the phase of the SDI output.

Firmware version 1.9.0 requires the use of r17 or greater.

Impact of Issue:

Any Q-SDI VFC shipped with firmware 1.8.0 or earlier and needing to lock to interlaced Genlock Signal

Affected Hardware:

All Q-SDI VFC shipped with previous firmware versions.

How to determine the current firmware version:

  • Populate VFC compatible disguise machine with only the SDI cards you want to check.
  • Run vfcfirmwareupdater.exe located at C:\Program Files\d3 Production Suite\build\msvc
  • Check Firmware Version

How to update to v1.9.0:

  • Populate any VFC compatible disguise machine with only the SDI cards required to be updated.
  • Download the VFC firmware update from: https://d3packages.s3.amazonaws.com/vfc/quad_sdi_vfc_v1-9-0.rbf
  • Run vfcfirmwareupdater.exe located at C:\Program Files\d3 Production Suite\build\msvc
  • Click Choose file and load the downloaded VFC firmware update. The filename should be quad_sdi_vfc_v1-9-0.rbf
  • Slots will be automatically selected. Ensure only SDI type cards have this firmware update applied to them.

  • Click Update Firmware, the update will start and will take between 10-25 minutes.

  • On completion, the Firmware version field will not update until all cards have finished updating and have been re-initialised and detected.

  • Finally, reboot the system.
